What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with any château or wine estate, with the Bordeaux wine council (CIVB), with the Cité du Vin, with the tourist offices of Bordeaux or Saint-Émilion, or with any of the places these tours stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is a measured claim: Top rated only on a tour rated 4.9 or higher, Best seller only on the tour with the most reviews, Best value only on the cheapest. Some operators sell several different days, and each appears on its own because each is separately bookable and priced. Two listings are one operator's same Saint-Émilion day in two vehicles, a sedan and a van; each is shown with its own fare.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different days: a full shared day in Saint-Émilion with lunch and the tastings in the fare, the most-reviewed shared half day, and a private day on the Médoc's châteaux road in a classic car.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 18 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every tour fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. Most fares are per person. Three are priced per car: the private Saint-Émilion day by sedan, for up to three; the same day by van, for up to six; and the private Cognac day, for up to three.

The sight prices we print are in euros, as each sight publishes them. The UNESCO listings come from UNESCO, the classifications and appellations from the Bordeaux wine council (bordeaux.com), Saint-Émilion's access, visits and fees from its tourist office, the city's sights from the Bordeaux tourist office and the Cité du Vin, and the climate normals from Météo-France (Bordeaux-Mérignac, 1991–2020). Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a meeting point, a group size, an age limit or a tasting fee, it belongs to that tour.

What we deliberately do not publish

The price of Saint-Émilion's underground visit. The tourist office shows it only in its own booking tool; book and pay there.
The fare for the Pey-Berland tower. The Bordeaux tourist office publishes none and asks visitors to check with it; the tower's opening days are printed.
The 2026 harvest dates. We found no official date for the Bordeaux appellations when we checked. Travellers' reports of the picking are shown as theirs.
Drive times beyond the listings' own. We print the operators' 50 minutes to Saint-Émilion; every other drive depends on the route each operator takes.
Château opening hours. Every estate keeps its own calendar; check its website.
Listing claims the official sources contradict. One listing calls Saint-Émilion the place where Bordeaux wine began, where the wine council gives that role to the Graves and UNESCO says only that the Romans brought vines to Saint-Émilion. Another's contents list and itinerary disagree on whether the tasting fees are in the fare; we say neither, and ask you to check with the operator.
